The project consists of building five 2-bedroom houses intended for island residents. The design calls for concrete walls to be covered with wood siding, as the houses are built as concrete blocks with extensions in tropical wood. Each house could be rented as two-bedrooms or as two separate, independent studios. This design evokes a reinterpretation of traditional architectural codes, while also confronting the tropical climate. The overhangs of the roof and the peaked eaves meet these climatic challenges by protecting the facades from the sun and the rain. The exterior is designed in keeping with the local lifestyle by maximizing outdoor living spaces and use of the garden.
