PRIVATE HOUSE
VILLA NANNE
Program: A 4 bedrooms villa with pool
Mission: General design + Visa
Project management: Work in progress
Location: Corossol, St Barthelemy
Status: April 2022
Budget: 5 000 000€
Surface: 334,8 m2

This villa is a collection of bungalows covered in wood siding with a simple, clean design. Behind the main building a tropical garden hides at the foot of a rock formation, creating a double orientation and as a result, natural ventilation. The various bungalows are connected by stairs, inviting the residents of the house to walk through nature as they move from one room to another. Each structure is implanted to best integrate into the landscape of the site.

The bungalows were inspired by West Indian colonial style, using wood and stone for a more contemporary version of a traditional home. The project plays with the limits of “inside outside,” as a means to bring nature into the house. The large four-sided roofs protect each interior volume and its outdoor verandah.

The project comprises different styles of wood to add to the warm ambiance of the bungalows. Special attention was paid to the balustrade, whose design was inspired by the ‘traveler’s tree.’

Like a cocoon fashioned in wood, this house is the perfect place to escape into a truly Caribbean way of life.
