This project is presented as a reinterpretation of the traditional cottages of Saint Barthelemy, which comprise various systems that promote a lifestyle in harmony with the local climate. This ensemble of four family houses with swimming pools is intended for rental by island residents.

Each house comprises three bedrooms and a swimming pool. The design echoes the traditional architectural style of the small cottages of Saint Barthelemy, as seen in several strong motifs: Four-sided roofs, small modules, horizontal wooden siding, framing of doors and salient-angle columns, covered exterior terraces, friezes, jalousies, etc…

Airy peripheral passageways, well-placed openings, and windows set high on the back walls of the living rooms and bedrooms add shade to the facades and allow a cross-breeze inside. Vegetation planted around the houses and the swimming pools add coolness for the occupants. The cistern collects rainwater, and a tank will be used to water the garden.
